Building Charcter in my children

This year we are making Character Building a HUGE goal.  I want my children to be FULL of character.  I want them to have many important Character Qualities in their lives.  This week we have been working on DILIGENCE vs Slothfulness.  "Diligence - Visualizing each task as a special assignment from the Lord and using all my energies to accomplish it Colossian  3:23."  This is one I also need to work on in order to be a better example to my children.  There are so many children who have very little character qualities and I want my children to be counter-cultural.
I heard my 7 year old son telling his 4 (almost 5) year old sister today that she was being like the prodigal son and that she should not be so lazy.  I know I need to work on some other character building here as well but just maybe they are getting the idea.
You may have already seen this but it is so worth sharing, here is a list of GREAT character qualities.  I have printed several of these, I have one hanging on the fridge as well as my children each have one in their learning binders.  I appreciate the quality of this material and the way it is put together.
When working on character you can find a Bible Story as well as an Animal that would relate to each quality.  For example the Ant is very diligent and the Sloth is very slothful.
The Bible even tells us to : Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise Proverbs 6:6.
My goal is to focus on a diffrent Character Quality each week.
My constant prayer is "Lord help me to be more like you."
Part of living for His glory is building Character in my life and in the lives of my children.

I like the idea of focusing on a different character quality each week. We have done a study of Godly character traits during our family devotional time, but we may do a "refresher course" at some point. Using stories to illustrate character qualities (or the lack thereof) always works well for our children, too.

Have a great weekend!
