Contentment

for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.
Phil 4:11 b

I have been recently been convicted about contentment.
There is a situation we have been praying for for several years now.
God has not answered our prayers the way we have asked Him to.
This does not mean that He does not answer prayers just not the way we asked.
Sometimes God answers our prayers "wait" or even "no" and that can be so hard.
We live in a society that says I want it and I want it NOW.

It is so easy to trust God when you are up on the mountain and life is going easy.  Sometimes though we are not on the mountain, sometimes we are down in the valley.
In the valley life don't look the same, things are harder.

If we trust God wherever we are in our lives we will know contentment weather times are easy or hard.  God knows better then we do He made us and He can direct our lives better than we can.
We can find peace in Him during the HARD times because He is good and He has everything under His control.
Good times and hard times will come and go but contentment is available to all who are in Christ.

A lovely post--it reminds me of the scripture from 1 Tim 6 "But godliness with contentment is great gain." Yes, God has everything in control--and He knows how to direct our lives much better than we can! Thanks for a great post.

Being human, we want the answers we want even if God's answer is best. And it is even harder to leave control of it all fully in His hands. praying for you.

Hi! What a beautiful post. That is one of my favorite passages. God has been teaching me a lot through it in my life over the past 15 years as well.

And He can also bring us to a point of joy while being content as well...even when times aren't easy or how we envisioned them.

Thank you for sharing your heart. I will be praying for you!

Wonderful post.. I was just speaking about this very thing with my nephew last night.. How easy it is to trust God and believe in Him when we are "on top of the mountain".. but its the valleys that really test our faith. God's plan isn't always our plan, but He always is teaching us.

Blessings,
Misty

There's a song that says, "I will trust when I cannot see." I often sing it when I'm wishing for a different answer from God. Contentment is a beautiful discipline -- one I am trying to cultivate.

Blessings,
Pamela

Thank you for sharing this encouraging post. Being content is a blessing. Trusting that God will answer our prayers in His way and not ours is something that isn't always easy to accept but it is important to learn it.
Blessings,
Charlotte
