Serve with Joy

I have recently been convicted that I need to have more Joy.
I will be the first to admit that sometimes it is so hard to be joyful amidst:
The never ending empty sink of dishes.
The never ending piles of dirty laundry.
Meals to cook.
Baths to give.
Floors to sweep.
etc etc etc.
It is so easy to look at all of this and get discouraged.
However, I am called to serve and not just serve but to serve with JOY.

Jesus was the perfect example of this.

He served with Joy.
"even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Matthey 20":28

Lord help me to be an example of you and serve with joy.

As I am washing the dishes:
Thank you lord for providing the food I was able to serve my family.

As I am folding laundry:
Thank you Lord for (each child).
Thank you that we have good clothes that you provided.

etc etc etc.

My desire is that I would bring GLORY to my Lord in everything that I do.
That I would be an example to my children.
And that I would serve with Joy and be Joyful in everything I do.

How about you?
Do you have a hard time being Joyful?
How can we encourage others to be Joyful in the Lord and fulfill our calling with Joy?

Sometimes it can be hard to find the joy. I want always to be as cheerful as I can but there are times!

Great post and reminder.. I have a lot of laundry to fold today.. I never thought of looking at it as a blessings that we all have been provided with clothes and that I have 5 wonderful children that mess up 2 outfits daily! Oh but I love them and one day this house will be empty and I will long to have their clothes to fold, dishes to wash and voices filling the house.. I'll be folding today with JOY!

Blessings,
Misty

Mundane is sometimes hard for me. I'd rather be writing. But I've found if I pray while doing my housework it's easy to be a bit more joyful. As I iron my husbands shirts, I thank God for him. When I fold my daughter's laundry, I thank God for her desire to live for Him...I haven't figured out anything for scrubbing my floors. :-) It is amazing what praising can do!

Great thoughts to remind us to check up on our joy.

Great post. I too have come to realize that I need to be serving a little more joyfully. It pleases our Lord when whatever we do, we do it joyfully and selflessly.
like you I need to be thankful and joyful that we have a home, enough food and clothes to make that much of a mess!

With God's help, I will hopefully start serving with joy!

Love the way you are choosing to look at life...seeing His gifts in the midst of it all.
Thank you for this good reminder.
And thank you for sharing with NOBH.

I've heard that being joyful is a choice. It is so important for children to have a mother who is joyful, and father too, of course. It is so true. One of these days the children will be grown and it will happen sooner than you can imagine. The mother's attitude affects the attitude of the whole family. I'm glad you've decided to have joy.
Blessings,
Charlotte

I agree that sometimes joy is a choice because it is just not 'fun'. But you are on the right track in finding things to be thankful for. That always helps me when I am discontent with life.
