Keeping House while Keeping Sane + Giveaway

Giveaway extended until Monday 11/7/11
due to being away at a conference with my Wonderful Husband
I had the privilege of reviewing the Book Keeping House While Keeping Sane

This book is quick read but is packed with valuable information.

Ashley is a stay at home daughter doing what the Lord has called her to do at this time and serve her family.

In this book you will find a wealth of information on organization, tips & tricks, cleaning and scheduling.
There is also a companion CD with sample schedules, cleaning charts and a lot of valuable printables that you can customize yourself to meet your families needs.

This book is like a fresh breeze to a frustrated mom needing help with details of daily life.  Or to a young woman needing some direction how she can serve her family and glorify the Lord wither her time.  I wish I had been able to read a book like this when I was a young lady.

Ashley has graciously provided a copy for me to giveaway.
Thank you Ashley for your generosity.

The biggest help to me lately has been an online menu planning site (like http://www.plantoeat.com/ref/psppsrnpxc - Free 30 Day Trial)... It automatically creates grocery lists from the menus, which both saves time and keeps me on track!

Went over to Ashley's blog, and enjoyed reading her posts about celebrating (or not) Halloween, and alternatives.

I like to put schedules, cleaning checklists, etc in a clear page protector & use dry erase markers to check off what's been done. The schedule hangs on the fridge. The cleaning checklists hang in the appropriate rooms.

Since I have four children and can't afford to buy new clothes every season, we store our hand-me-downs in containers. I number them and keep a master list with corresponding numbers to remind me what is included in which bin. A huge time-saver!

Organization tips:
- Clutter areas, put a basket there
- To keep my son from traveling all over the house when I tell him to clean his room, for items that don't belong in the room, I give him a basket to put them in to put them away later.
- I create weekly menus for my house and grocery shop based on that ONLY! (Saves time, money, and my son makes sure we stick to it! LOL)

When I get down to streamlining, my rule is, if I don't want it, need it and have room for it, it goes!

I am now following your blog. One thing I have learned is sometimes I can get too carried away de-junking. A couple of times I've gotten ride of things and really regretted it later. So, it is good to be careful.

Baskets set around the house are wonderful things to store odds and ends in and they look so pretty!

My current favorite organizational tip is using a plastic recipe card file to organize my coupons. I just use sticky labels to mark the dividers with whatever categories work for me and it's so easy to stick in my purse and pull out at the store. Thanks for the chance to win Ashley's book!

When I'm tired and don't feel like cleaning, I force myself to pick up around the house for just 15 minutes. It is amazing how much of a difference those few minutes can make!

Wish I had a good tip, but my house can tell you my organizing is non-existant. That's why I need this book!

A real help for me is the box system. We got a lot of free copy paper boxes from a public school and use them to store clothes to pass down to the next child. They stack very nicely and are easily labled. If you raise your bed frame up a few inches, they slide in right underneath.

We sign up for automatic bill pay online for a lot of our bills, which reduces paper clutter and saves us from having to take the time to write out checks to pay bills each month.

What a great giveaway! I'm always looking for ways to get more organized.

My favorite tip is to keep at least one space tip-top organized, even if it's just a closet. When you feel like the kids' toy mess is overwhelming you, go peek at your organized space and relax. :)

Angie, What a nice giveaway! Thank you for joining up today; you are always a blessing!! I went to your FB page and 'Liked' you :)
My little tip which has helped me to keep a clean house is to do just one bigger thing a day. Clean one space: take everything out, wipe the shelves or vaccuum, and replace only thing that you want to keep there. Put everything else into either the trash, a box for giveaway or a box to take somewhere else. It has kept me SANE for 38 years!! I pray this blesses young Moms.

As a mom of four kids, I have found that keeping up with laundry and dishes makes my life easier. It's much less daunting to tackle one load of laundry than ten if I get behind.

every day I spend 5-10 minutes on a different room or area of the house. I quick rearrange, sort, organize, toss trash in that specific area. It sure helps keep things under control!
